The Illinois College women’s tennis team lost its last dual match of the regular season to Greenville, 5-2, on Apr. 21 at the Scott J. Burgess Tennis Complex.
This result concludes the Lady Blues’ regular season with a record of 16 wins, eight losses, and one tie—the highest number of wins in a single season for the program.
Illinois College started strong by winning the doubles point after victories from two pairs. Alyssa Wise and Clara Bach secured a close win at No. 1 doubles with a score of 7-6 (12-10), while Morgan Keefe and Madison Eastin won their No. 3 doubles match, 7-5. However, Greenville responded by taking five out of six singles matches. The only singles victory for Illinois College came from Sabrina Ingram at No. 6 singles with scores of 6-2 and 6-0.
According to the official website, Illinois College Lady Blues Tennis features the Blueboys as its mascot and competes in NCAA Division III as part of the Midwest Conference. The team is based in Jacksonville, Illinois according to its official website.
Looking ahead, Illinois College will participate in the annual Midwest Conference Tournament scheduled for May 2 in Madison, Wisconsin.
