Illinois College men’s golf team in 12th after first day at Butts Classic

The Illinois College men’s golf team finished the first day of the Butts Classic in 12th place after playing two rounds on April 20 at the Country Club of Decatur. The Blueboys recorded scores of 304 and 308, putting them at +36 as they head into the final round.

The team’s top performer was Myles Kampwerth, who shot rounds of 75 (+3) and 76 (+4). Teddy Walbaum followed closely with consistent back-to-back rounds of 76 (+4). AJ Odle contributed scores of 76 (+4) and 77 (+5), while Emmitt Brokaw opened with a round of 77 (+5) before finishing with an 84 (+12). Isaac Anderson matched his opening score in both rounds, posting a pair of 79s (+7).

Drake Bartos competed as an individual and scored a first-round total of 78 (+6), followed by an 87 (+15). Other individuals included Zach Diekemper, who posted scores of 88 (+16) and 92 (+20), and Ian Otto, who shot rounds of 88 (+16) and then a second-round score of 93 (+21).

Illinois College Blue Boys Golf takes part in seasonal tournaments, according to the official athletics website.
