The Illinois College men’s tennis team secured its first Midwest Conference dual victory of the season with a 6-1 win over Monmouth on Apr. 14. The Blueboys now hold a record of 10-8 overall and are 1-3 in conference play.
This victory is significant for Illinois College as it marks progress in their regular-season campaign within the competitive Midwest Conference, where teams vie for postseason opportunities. In doubles action, Jeff Wernsing and Drake Bartos claimed a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Glenn Conway and Dalton Short won their No. 2 match by a score of 6-0, while Tejas Zala and Andrus Dupre also earned a shutout at No. 3 doubles with another 6-0 result. In singles matches, Zala won decisively at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1), Conway achieved a shutout at No. 3, Dupre prevailed at No. 4 (6-2, 6-2), Short was victorious at No.5 (6-3, 6-4), and Ryne Breyer finished with a win at No.6 (6-1, 6-3).
