Illinois College men’s tennis team falls to Grinnell in Midwest Conference opener

The Illinois College men’s tennis team lost its opening-round match against Grinnell College on April 24 at the Midwest Conference Tournament held at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin. The Blueboys finished their season with a 13-10 overall dual record.

This result marks another win for Grinnell, which is ranked nineteenth and has now achieved 203 consecutive victories against conference opponents. Illinois College competes in NCAA Division III and participates in the Midwest Conference, engaging in both regular-season and postseason play according to the official website.

In doubles play, Jeff Wernsing and Adi Basic of Illinois College challenged Grinnell’s top pair but were defeated 6-2. Glenn Conway and Dalton Short fell 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, while the No. 3 match was stopped with Andrus Dupre and Tejas Zala trailing by one game. During singles matches, each Illinois College player managed to take at least two games before falling short; Basic lost his match at No.1 singles by scores of 6-0, 6-2.
