Illinois College announced on May 20 that Figo Cheuk has been appointed as the new Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach for the Blueboys. The announcement was made by Head Coach Evan Philpott.
Philpott said, “We are thrilled to welcome Figo Cheuk as a member of the program. The IC soccer family continues to grow stronger, and the addition of Coach Cheuk marks another step forward for our program.” He also said, “Coach Cheuk brings a wealth of collegiate experience, having competed at the highest levels in the United States. His international background will also provide a valuable perspective that will positively impact our players and the program as a whole. From the moment he met the team, Coach Cheuk made an immediate connection, and we are excited about the leadership, energy, and knowledge he will bring to our group.”
Cheuk has an extensive playing career in collegiate soccer. He started at Feather River College in Quincy, California before moving to Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland in 2024. He finished his playing career at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi last season. In addition to his playing experience, Cheuk is a licensed referee with the United States Soccer Federation.
Originally from Ireland, Cheuk has worked professionally in sales outside of sports while living there. He is set to graduate from William Carey University with a bachelor’s degree later this year after being recognized as a Dean’s List student throughout his college years.
Illinois College Blue Boys Soccer participates in conference and non-conference matches within NCAA Division III rules and belongs to the Midwest Conference according to the official website. The team is based in Jacksonville, Illinois and supports student-athletes both academically and athletically within its collegiate sports structure.
