Illinois Department of Children and Family Services recently issued the following announcement.

We have the honor to announce the opening of the nomination process for the Celeste Peña Community Service Award for 2018. The Latino Family Institute Day Planning Committee will assume responsibility for the dissemination of information and nominations forms as well as to be the point of collection for the nominations. The Peña family will select the recipient of this award.

The 2018 Recipient of the Celeste Peña Community Service Award will be announced at the 30th Annual Latino Family Institute Day. The presenting of this award is becoming one of the most solemn activities during this event. We want to honor an individual who, like Celeste, has excelled in enhancing services and opportunities for Latino families and their children.

The nomination for this award is open to any person who has demonstrated a passion for the Latino
Community through their active involvement and advocacy in the following areas:

❖ A long and productive history of working with Latino families and children
❖ Strong Latino community development and involvement
❖ Inspires and promotes Latino educational opportunities
❖ Is dedicated to promoting and enhancing the field of social work

Attached you will find a nomination form. The deadline to submit the nomination is September 7, 2018.
