IDOR has issued a reminder to retailers regarding the collection of the 1% local grocery tax on eligible sales in areas where this tax has been enacted. The requirement takes effect starting January 1, 2026.

Retailers are advised to review CA-2026-01, which outlines the proper procedures for collecting the local grocery tax on sales of grocery items from January 1, 2026 onward.
