The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) has announced the progression of Phases 3 and 4 in its Comprehensive Online Regulatory Environment (CORE) initiative. This development will add 16 more license types to the state’s updated regulatory system, which aims to move away from older systems toward a unified platform that manages professional regulation.
The latest phase extends CORE’s capabilities beyond simply an online licensing portal. The system is being enhanced to cover all aspects of regulatory activity, including licensing, continuing education, inspections, compliance, and enforcement. All these functions will be accessible through a single record for each professional.
According to IDFPR Secretary Mario Treto, Jr., “By implementing CORE in thoughtful phases, we are getting this right the first time, advancing the system deliberately so each step is secure, intuitive, and centered on the people we serve.” He added, “Every profession added reflects the power of collaboration between IDFPR, the Department of Innovation and Technology, and Department leaders committed to modern, transparent regulation in Illinois.”
This upgrade is designed both to provide regulators with improved tools for consumer protection and to offer professionals a process that is more transparent and efficient.
