State Representative Brad Stephens is in Springfield for the final week of the legislative session in the Illinois House of Representatives, according to a May 28 announcement. Lawmakers are required to adopt a new budget for the upcoming fiscal year before adjourning.

Stephens said he is working on behalf of Illinois families and constituents in his 20th legislative district. “When it comes to the new budget, that means fighting for tax relief and reduced spending,” Stephens said.

Residents interested in following legislative action can do so at ilga.gov.

Stephens, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2019 to represent the state’s 20th House District, replacing previous state representative Michael P. McAuliffe, according to Representative Brad Stephens’ office.

The session will adjourn once lawmakers vote on and approve the new state budget.
