Representative Dan Swanson announced on May 7 that Sergeant First Class Kyle Wehrly will be honored through a House Joint Resolution, which designates a portion of U.S. Highway 150 within the Galesburg city limits as the SFC Kyle Wehrly Memorial Highway.

The resolution aims to recognize the service and sacrifice of Sergeant First Class Wehrly by naming a local highway segment in his memory. This action highlights efforts by state legislators to honor military personnel who have served their communities and country.

Swanson said that this measure reflects ongoing recognition for veterans and fallen soldiers in Illinois. The designated stretch of U.S. Highway 150 is intended to serve as a lasting tribute within Galesburg.

Swanson, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 71st House District, replacing previous state representative Donald L. Moffitt, according to the American Financial Services Association.

Efforts such as these are part of broader initiatives across Illinois and other states to commemorate those who have made significant contributions or sacrifices.
