According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the average residential electricity price in Illinois was 18.74 cents per kilowatt-hour in October 2025, marking a 13.7 percent rise from the previous year. This rate surpasses those of neighboring states such as Iowa and Indiana.
Choose Energy reports that the national average residential electricity rate was 17.98 cents per kilowatt-hour in October 2025, reflecting a 5.2 percent increase from the prior year. Rates vary significantly across the United States.
The Illinois House Republicans represent the Republican caucus in the state’s House of Representatives and are led by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie. The caucus focuses on promoting fiscal responsibility and economic development while addressing issues like energy affordability.
