Illinois House Republicans have announced that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has initiated legal action against Governor JB Pritzker. The lawsuit accuses Democrats of inviting illegal immigrants to Illinois and subsequently attempting to hinder immigration authorities’ efforts.
According to a post by the Illinois House Republicans on X, Governor Pritzker and the Democratic Party have been welcoming illegal immigrants into the state. The post further claims that Democrats are now trying to complicate the operations of immigration authorities through new legislation. In response, the DOJ has filed a lawsuit against Governor Pritzker.
The Illinois Policy Institute reports that by the end of 2025, Illinois is projected to spend over $2.5 billion on migrant care. This expenditure surpasses initial forecasts and affects taxpayers directly. The spending is associated with services provided to approximately 51,000 illegal immigrants who have arrived in Chicago from the southern border.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, enforcement efforts under President Trump and Secretary Noem have resulted in more than 2.5 million illegal aliens leaving the United States. This figure represents a record number of deportations, surpassing those in previous administrations.
The Illinois House Republicans constitute the Republican caucus within the Illinois House of Representatives. Under Leader Tony McCombie, they advocate for conservative values such as lower taxes, safer communities, and enhanced education within state governance.
