Illinois officials discuss impact of H.R. 1 on state Medicaid program

During the Fall Veto Session in Springfield, Elizabeth M. Whitehorn, Director of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, gave an update to the House Human Services Committee on changes to Illinois’ Medicaid program following the passage of H.R.1, also known as One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB).

Whitehorn’s presentation offered an overview of the current Medicaid program in Illinois and discussed challenges that have arisen because of the new federal law. She also provided information about the Rural Health Transformation program.
