Connie Beard’s efforts in streamlining Illinois’ tax policies have earned her an honor from the Tax Foundation, a Washington-based non-profit organization, according to a press release.

Beard, the director of the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR), received the 2016 Outstanding Achievement in State Tax Reform award. She was among 12 such recipients in eight states.

The foundation’s executive vice president, Joseph Henchman, said Beard has shown a commitment to tax reform in the state.

“The initiatives that Director Beard and the Illinois Department of Revenue have launched are being noticed and recognized for making a big difference in the lives of taxpayers,” Henchman said in the release, which explained that Beard earned the award thanks to her efforts to improve the revenue’s customer service by implementing techniques that streamlined return processing and shortened response times.

Beard has served as the director of the IDOR since 2015.
