This seeding places Illinois among the top contenders in a field of ten teams and reflects a strong regular season performance. The Fighting Illini finished with a record of 21-6 overall and went 10-3 in conference play, marking their highest number of Big Ten wins since 2021.
Illinois will begin tournament play on Thursday, April 23 at 8 p.m. Central Time against sixth-seeded Wisconsin. The two teams previously met during the regular season on March 15, when Illinois won by a score of 4-1 while playing away from home.
