The Illinois State Medical Society announced on March 6 that 89.7% of its members’ dues for the 2025 membership year are tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes.
This information is important for members as they prepare their taxes, since a portion of professional association dues may be eligible for deduction depending on how the funds are used by the organization.
According to the announcement, only 10.3% of ISMS dues support non-tax-deductible activities. The remaining majority can be deducted when filing federal income taxes.
Members are advised to consult with their own tax consultants or advisors to determine how this applies to their individual circumstances.
The society’s annual update on deductibility helps ensure that members have accurate information for financial planning and compliance during tax season.
