The Illinois State men’s tennis team has qualified for the 2026 Summit League Men’s Tennis Championship, which will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center from April 24 to 25 and hosted by the University of Tulsa, according to an April 19 announcement.
This qualification gives Illinois State a chance to compete for the league title and an automatic spot in the NCAA Tournament. The four-team field includes top-seeded Denver, No. 2 North Dakota, No. 3 Oral Roberts, and No. 4 Illinois State.
Denver enters as the No.1 seed after finishing its conference season undefeated and winning its eleventh regular season title since joining the league. The Pioneers secured their top position with a recent victory over Drake on April 17. Illinois State, seeded fourth with a record of nine wins and thirteen losses overall (2-3 in conference), will face Denver in Friday’s first semifinal at 3 p.m., while North Dakota plays Oral Roberts later that evening.
Oral Roberts earned its third seed by defeating Illinois State earlier this month; however, Illinois State secured its championship berth following a win against Omaha on April 15. Winners from each semifinal will advance to Saturday’s final at 1 p.m., where they will play for both the championship crown and entry into the NCAA Tournament.
