Illinois State advanced to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship match after defeating Murray State 4-2 on Apr. 25 at XS Tennis Village in Chicago. The Redbirds, seeded second, will face No. 5 seed Drake in the title match following their semifinal victory.

The result highlights Illinois State’s strong performance throughout the tournament and their continued pursuit of conference success. The win was secured by a combination of doubles and singles victories, as the team built an early lead and maintained momentum against third-seeded Murray State.

In doubles play, Vittoria Benedetti and Silvia Pomarolli earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while Lana Caculovic and Emma Lindh clinched the point with another 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles. In singles competition, Nicole Iosio won her match at No. 5 position in straight sets (6-2, 6-4), while Lindh added another point for Illinois State with a straight-set win (6-3, 6-3) at No. 6 singles. Pomarolli sealed the overall victory for Illinois State by winning her three-set battle (6-3, 3-6, 6-0) against Valeria Chaikovskaia.
