Illinois State softball lost to DePaul, 6–5, on Apr. 21 at Cacciatore Stadium in Chicago during its last non-conference midweek game of the season.
The result brings Illinois State’s overall record to 25–16. Both teams had seven hits each, but the Redbirds left ten runners on base compared to six for DePaul. Illinois State started strong by scoring two runs in the second inning through a combination of walks and an error. DePaul quickly responded with a run in their half of the inning and took control with a three-run home run in the third inning. Two more runs from DePaul in the fourth extended their lead.
