Illinois State University announced on Apr. 16 that its spring commencement ceremonies will take place over two days, May 8 and May 9, at CEFCU Arena. The university will hold five separate ceremonies to honor graduating students from various colleges.
The spring commencement is an important milestone for students completing their academic programs and marks the transition to the next phase of their lives. It also provides an opportunity for families and supporters to celebrate graduates’ achievements.
On Friday, May 8, two ceremonies are scheduled: one at 4 p.m. for graduates from the Mennonite College of Nursing and College of Arts and Sciences Social Sciences majors—including Communication Sciences and Disorders; Economics, Politics and Government; Psychology; Social Work; Sociology and Anthropology—and another at 8 p.m. for those in Natural Sciences/Mathematics and Humanities majors such as Biological Sciences; Communication; Chemistry; English; Geography, Geology, and the Environment; History; Languages, Literatures, and Cultures; Mathematics; Philosophy; Physics; Interdisciplinary Studies.
Saturday’s events on May 9 begin with a ceremony at 9 a.m. for the College of Education and Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts. This is followed by a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. for the College of Applied Science and Technology, concluding with a final ceremony at 6 p.m. dedicated to graduates from the College of Business.
The university reports that approximately 4,430 graduate and undergraduate students will earn degrees this spring semester, with more than 3,850 scheduled to participate in person during these ceremonies.
For those unable to attend in person due to distance or other commitments, Illinois State University will provide live streaming options so family members can watch the proceedings remotely on computers or mobile devices.
