The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s golf team completed its regular season with a first and second place finish at the Butts Classic hosted by Millikin University on April 21. The Titan ‘B’ squad narrowly defeated the ‘A’ team by one stroke, finishing with a total score of 871 at the Country Club of Decatur.

This result highlights the depth of Illinois Wesleyan Titans Men’s Golf as they prepare for postseason play. The team competes in NCAA Division III athletics, according to the official website. Senior Myles Lahart finished second individually with a career-best three-round total of one-under-par (215), while sophomore Pablo Castro placed third after shooting two-under in his final round to finish at 217. Freshmen Ryan Andrews and Kasey May tied for fourth place with scores of 218 each.

Several other Titans contributed to the strong showing, including seniors Aidan Healy, Michael Spitzer, Juney Bai, sophomore Lane Ludwig, and freshman Kevin Schuh who all tied for seventh place with totals of 222. Tyler Wengronowitz from Lake Forest won medalist honors by finishing two-under (214). Carthage College took third place in the team standings, trailing both IWU squads.

Illinois Wesleyan Titans Men’s Golf utilizes Ironwood Golf Course as its dedicated facility and operates from Bloomington, Illinois, according to the official website. The program is affiliated with Illinois Wesleyan University and participates in intercollegiate athletics within the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin at the NCAA Division III level.

The Titans will move into postseason competition next week at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships from April 29 through May 1 at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford.
