The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s golf team finished the opening day of the Butts Classic in first and second place on April 20, with ten Titans ranked among the top-20 individual players. The event, hosted by Millikin University at the Country Club of Decatur, saw Illinois Wesleyan’s ‘B’ squad lead with a two-round total of six-under 570, while their ‘A’ squad followed at two-over 578.

Senior Myles Lahart led both his team and all individuals after rounds of four-under (68) and two-under (70), tying his career-low in round one and entering the final round with a six-shot lead.
Freshman Alex Rollman and senior Michael Spitzer were tied for third individually after each scored 144 through 36 holes. Rollman and fellow freshman Kasey May joined Lahart as Titans who broke 70 during round two, each carding career-best three-under scores. The Titan ‘B’ team recorded an eight-under 280 in their second round to move into first place overall.
The competition includes teams from Heartland College and Carthage College, both tied for third place at nine-over par (585). The final round is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., also taking place at the Country Club of Decatur.
