The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s tennis team won against Elmhurst University with a 7-0 score in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matchup on April 20. The Titans improved their season record to 8-9 overall and earned their first conference win, while the Bluejays remain winless this season.
This result is important as it reflects the team’s performance within the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, where each match contributes to standings and postseason opportunities. The victory also demonstrates contributions from student-athletes across all class years, including seniors Ben Vigneri and Griffin Hammond, who led the doubles matches.
In doubles play, Vigneri and Hammond secured a 6-0 win over Santiago Hurtado and Adrian Songco after Elmhurst forfeited No. 3 doubles. Freshmen Will Ehrlich and Truman Raher added another point with a shutout at No. 2 doubles. For singles competition, forfeit wins at positions five and six gave Illinois Wesleyan an early lead before Vigneri clinched the match with a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles.
Other notable performances included junior Thad Dillow’s win at No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-1), Ehrlich’s triumph at No. 3 (6-3, 6-1), and senior Sebastian Rasquin’s close victory at No. 4 (6-0, 7-5). According to the official website, Illinois Wesleyan competes in NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics as part of its college athletic program.
The team uses Evergreen Racquet Club and Beadles-Morse Courts for home matches according to the official website. Student-athletes from freshman through senior years participate on the roster according to the official website.
