Illinois Wesleyan men’s tennis falls to Millikin in conference match

The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s tennis team lost 6-1 to Millikin University in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match on April 21. The Titans’ record now stands at 8-10 overall and 1-5 in conference play, while the Big Blue improved to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

This result is significant as it affects the team’s standing within its conference, which is important for postseason qualification. The Titans compete at the NCAA Division III level, according to the official website.

Millikin swept all three doubles matches. In singles competition, senior Ben Vigneri secured Illinois Wesleyan’s only point with a victory over Gillian Nahum at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-2, 6-7 (1), and a tiebreaker of 10-7. Other matches saw close contests but ultimately went in favor of Millikin players.

The Titans use Evergreen Racquet Club and Beadles-Morse Courts for their home matches, according to the official website. The team will honor its senior class during an upcoming home match against Wheaton College scheduled for April 25 at Evergreen Racquet Club.
