The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s tennis team lost its final match of the season to Wheaton College, 4-3, at Evergreen Racquet Club on April 25. The Titans ended their campaign with a record of 9-10 overall and 1-6 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while Wheaton improved to 7-9 (4-3 CCIW) and will advance to the conference tournament.
This result marks the conclusion of competition for several senior players on the team. The match saw Illinois Wesleyan win the doubles point after victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions. Seniors Ian Turnbull and Ben Vigneri defeated Andrew Jang and Andrew Winters, while junior Thad Dillow paired with freshman Will Ehrlich for another win.
In singles play, Vigneri finished his college career with a straight-set victory over Corin Tang at No. 1 singles. Dillow also won his final collegiate match by defeating Winters at No. 3 singles. This contest was also notable as it marked the end of playing careers for seniors Griffin Hammond and Sebastian Rasquin, along with Dillow who is graduating early.
