Illinois Wesleyan men’s tennis to honor seniors before match against Wheaton College

The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s tennis team will recognize its senior class on Apr. 25 when it hosts Wheaton College for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match at Evergreen Racquet Club. Senior Day festivities are set to begin at 3:45 p.m., followed by the match at 4 p.m.

The event highlights the contributions of seniors Ian Turnbull, Ben Vigneri, Griffin Hammond, and Sebastian Rasquin, as well as junior Thad Dillow who is graduating early. The team said this recognition comes ahead of their final home contest of the season.

Illinois Wesleyan enters the matchup with a record of 9-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play after a recent loss to Millikin University. Vigneri secured the team’s only point in that match with a win at No. 1 singles. Earlier in the week, Illinois Wesleyan defeated Elmhurst University by a score of 7-0.

Wheaton College arrives with an overall record of 5-9 and is coming off two consecutive losses, most recently falling to North Central College and Carthage College. Before facing Illinois Wesleyan, Wheaton will play Millikin University.

The Titans compete at the NCAA Division III level according to the official website. Home matches are played at both Evergreen Racquet Club and Beadles-Morse Courts according to the official website. The program maintains membership in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin according to the official website and features student-athletes from freshman through senior years according to the official website.

As part of intercollegiate athletics participation at NCAA Division III level according to the official website, results from Saturday’s match will be posted online upon completion.
