The Illinois Wesleyan University men’s volleyball team was ranked No. 14 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll released on April 28. This marks the first time in program history that the Titans finished inside the top-15.
The ranking follows a record-setting season for Illinois Wesleyan, which ended with a 22-6 overall record and an 8-2 mark in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), both new highs for the program. The Titans advanced to their first CCIW Tournament Championship game, where they were defeated by Carthage College, who went on to be national runner-up.
Three teams from the CCIW were featured among the nation’s top-20: Carthage at No. 2, Loras College at No. 12, and Illinois Wesleyan at No. 14. During the season, Illinois Wesleyan posted a record of four wins and five losses against nationally-ranked opponents listed in this final poll. The team recorded three victories over Loras and one over Milwaukee School of Engineering (ranked No. 20), while all three defeats to Carthage came during this campaign along with losses to Dominican University (No.13) and Aurora University (No.19).
