Senior Isaac Whitaker broke the Illinois Wesleyan University track and field outdoor pole vault record as the Titans secured 12 event wins at Monmouth College’s Thursday Night Twilight Meet on April 23. Thirty-five athletes also achieved personal bests during the competition.

The achievement is significant for the Illinois Wesleyan Titans Men’s Track and Field program, which competes in intercollegiate athletics as part of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin at the NCAA Division III level, according to the official website.

Whitaker cleared a height of 4.80 meters in pole vault, surpassing a record that had stood since 2000. The previous mark was held by Steve Zimmerman with a height of 4.78 meters. In relay action, juniors Carson Green and Cole Marshall joined sophomore Nyamedze Maison and freshman Cameron Rask to run one of the fastest times in program history for the men’s 4×100 meter relay, finishing first with a time of 42.06 seconds.

Sophomore Kelsey Moore claimed first place in the women’s 100 meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.68 seconds, while sophomore Caroline Hill won the women’s 400 meters with her season-best performance. On the men’s side, Alex Maas ran a personal-best time to win his event.

Marshall also led victories in individual sprints, winning both men’s events while Olivia Skibinski won both women’s sprints with notable times that rank high within their conference this season. In field events, freshman Gwendolyn Boettinger earned runner-up honors in high jump with her best mark yet—a result currently leading within their conference standings.

The team features student-athletes from freshman through senior years based in Bloomington, Illinois according to its official website. The Titans regularly host indoor meets at Shirk Center Indoor Track as reported by their site. Last season they placed second at CCIW Championships according to school records.

Looking ahead, junior Imani Ogunribido is scheduled to compete at Drake Relays while most teammates will participate next at Decatur’s Big Blue Alumni Invitational.
