The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s golf team finished third at the UW-Whitewater Spring Invite on April 18, after the tournament was shortened to 18 holes due to heavy rainfall. The event took place at Janesville Riverside Golf Club, where the Titans posted a score of 314 among an 18-team field.
The result highlights a strong showing for Illinois Wesleyan, which had five golfers finish in the top 20. This performance comes as the team completes its regular season and prepares for national competition.
Sophomore Grace Fagan led Illinois Wesleyan with a one-over-par round of 73, securing her fifth career top-10 finish and sharing second place overall. She was followed by sophomores Caroline Carr and Breanna Brown from the Titan ‘B’ squad, who finished in 12th and 14th places respectively. Junior Emily Gastrau and freshman Julia Henry tied for 18th with rounds of eight-over-par.
UW-Stout won the tournament with a team score of 301, while Aurora placed second at 311. The Illinois Wesleyan ‘A’ team finished third (314), just ahead of their own ‘B’ squad (322) and Dubuque (323). The Titans participate in intercollegiate athletics at the NCAA Division III level according to their official website. With this event marking the end of regular season play, Illinois Wesleyan now looks ahead to competing in the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship scheduled for May.
