The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team ended its season after a 22-2 loss to top-seeded Carroll University in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Semifinals on April 29. The Titans finished the year with a record of 6-11.

This defeat marked the final game for several players, including fifth-year Bri Kiser, seniors Sadie Newton, Anelise DiGiovanni, Sarah Riepe, Carleigh Fountain, and junior Chloe Heyl who is graduating early in December. The team features student-athletes from freshman through fifth-year classes, according to the official website.

Sophomore Marli Brown made ten first-half saves as Illinois Wesleyan was outshot by Carroll over the opening half. The Pioneers built a substantial lead using a strong advantage at the draw. Maddie Gibson scored IWU’s first goal in the third quarter off an assist from Riepe. Sophie Shore added another goal in the fourth quarter but it was not enough for a comeback.

The Titans closed their season having earned three conference Player of the Week awards and placing two athletes on All-CCIW teams. Illinois Wesleyan hosts its home games at Tucci Stadium in Bloomington, Illinois and maintains membership in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin according to the official website. The program operates within intercollegiate athletics and is based in Bloomington according to university sources.

In recent seasons, Illinois Wesleyan achieved notable results including a 23-0 victory over Illinois Institute of Technology in 2025 according to their official website. As this year concludes for graduating players and returning student-athletes alike, preparations will begin for next season.
