Illinois women’s tennis defeats Bradley 4-0 in final home match of season

The University of Illinois Fighting Illini women’s tennis team secured a 4-0 victory over Bradley on April 14, closing out its home schedule for the 2025-26 season at the Atkins Tennis Center. The win improved Illinois’ overall record to 10-12 and maintained its undefeated all-time series against Bradley.

This result is significant as it marks the end of the regular home matches for Illinois, which competes in NCAA Division I within the Big Ten Conference as part of University of Illinois athletics, according to the official website. The team is based in Champaign, Illinois and operates as a collegiate athletics program in NCAA Division I.

During Tuesday’s match, Illinois claimed the doubles point after wins from McKenna Schaefbauer and Ariel Madatali at No. 2 doubles (6-2), and from No. 65-ranked Tess Bucher and Alice Xu at No. 1 doubles (6-1). In singles play, Cara Mester earned a quick win at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-1), followed by Bucher’s victory at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-3). Freshman Kimiko Cooper clinched the overall match with her first appearance at No. 1 singles for Illinois, winning her contest with a score of 6-2, 6-2.

The Illini improved their record to five non-conference wins this season and seven victories when playing at Atkins Tennis Center. Action on courts two, three, and six was left unfinished due to clinching rules after securing four points.
