Jack L. “Thyger” Thygesen, aged 90 and formerly of Gardner, IL, passed away on July 16, 2025, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. Born on October 28, 1934, in Morris to Francis H. and Esther J. Thygesen, Jack graduated from Gardner South Wilmington High School and served in the United States Army. Renowned for his carpentry expertise, he worked with his father at the Narvick Brothers in Morris, creating beautiful homes and structures for many years.
A lover of fishing, Jack found solace in his excursions, particularly at Heidecke Lake alongside his friend Lee Gunderson. In addition to his carpentry skills, Jack was a talented wood carver, specializing in intricate bird sculptures. He found joy in spending his winters in Port Richey, FL, and treasured a 45-year friendship with Bill W.
Survived by his daughter Paula, son-in-law Mark Ferguson, and granddaughter Madalyn Ferguson, Jack will be remembered for his craftsmanship, love of fishing, and artistic talents. Cremation rites have been facilitated, with a private family service to be held in due course at Braceville Gardner Cemetery.
