Chicago Ridge – James E. Corbett, age 91, passed away. He was the retired 5th District Chief of the Chicago Fire Department and a US Marine Corps Veteran. James was the beloved husband of the late Darlene Corbett and the loving father of the late Kathleen Ann Corbett, and James Jr. He was a proud grandfather to Megan Davies, Haley Tempelman, Joe Roiger, Britnie Donahue, Kayla Rico, and Cassidi Tischer, as well as an adored great-grandfather. James was the son of the late Elmer and Marie, and the sibling of Helen Corbett, Michael Corbett, Lorraine Schoenstadt, and the late Terry Corbett. He was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.

James was a member of the “Vis Kids” and Leo High School graduate, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1952. He was a dedicated friend of Bill W., a former member of the Chicago Police Department (1958-1963), and one of the originators of the South Side Gaelic Fire Brigade.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Curley Funeral Home, Chicago Ridge, IL. The funeral service will take place on Thursday at 10:15 a.m., proceeding to St. Linus Church for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the CFD Gold Badge Society, Honor Flight Chicago, or Misericordia Home would be appreciated.
