The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) awarded Joliet Township High School the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, according to an April 22 announcement. This marks the district’s 39th consecutive year participating in the program.
The recognition highlights Joliet Township High School’s commitment to transparent and accurate financial practices. The award is based on a rigorous review by experienced financial professionals who evaluate school districts’ reports and provide feedback to improve future submissions.
Jim Rowan, Executive Director of ASBO International, said, “For over half a century, ASBO International’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting has been the gold standard for promoting and recognizing excellence in financial transparency. Clear and accurate financial reporting is crucial for engaging school communities and building their trust. Districts that earn the COE have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to these principles.”
Dr. Ilandus Hampton, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services at Joliet Township High School, said, “Joliet Township High School is committed to maintaining the highest standards of fiscal responsibility, which includes a thorough and objective review of our Comprehensive Annual Financial Report by professional auditors through the COE program. Receiving this award affirms our commitment to transparent and responsible financial management, which is essential to supporting a high-quality educational experience for every student.”
Joliet West High School serves grades nine through twelve with an enrollment of 3,310 students during the 2019-2020 school year in Joliet and Will County according to Illinois Report Card. Of these students, grade nine had the largest proportion at 27.3 percent; grade ten made up 24.7 percent; grade eleven accounted for 25.1 percent; while grade twelve comprised 26.1 percent according to Illinois Report Card. The student body was composed of approximately 34.9 percent white students, 21.2 percent black students, 39 percent Hispanic students, and 1.7 percent Asian students during that period according to Illinois Report Card.
The continued receipt of this certificate may also benefit bond rating processes as well as ongoing disclosure requirements.
