The City of Highwood announced on May 21 that Joseph Nebolsky was appointed and sworn in as alderman by Mayor Charlie Pecaro during the May 19 City Council meeting. Nebolsky will serve through the remainder of the current term.

Nebolsky is known for his active involvement in the Highwood community. He and his wife, Cathy, opened The Merchant on North Avenue last June, and he currently serves as a board member of the Highwood Chamber of Commerce.

City officials say Nebolsky’s experience with local business and civic organizations positions him to make valuable contributions to the council. During the swearing-in ceremony, his wife and daughters stood alongside him.

The appointment fills a vacancy on the council, ensuring continued representation for residents. The city looks forward to Nebolsky’s leadership in upcoming initiatives.

Officials expressed confidence that Nebolsky’s commitment to both business and civic life will benefit Highwood as he begins his term.
