Kahoks on the Go team completes races at Greater St. Louis Marathon

The Kahoks on the Go team completed either a 10-kilometer or half marathon run at the 2026 Greater St. Louis Marathon in downtown St. Louis on April 11, following several months of preparation.

The event included five students—Rylee McGauley, Adilyn Click, Carolina Garcia, Lizbeth Carrera, and Jose Ramirez—who participated in the 10K race. Another group ran the half marathon: Esme Malo, Houston Gurley, Zach Etcheson, Roger Castro, Eden Banuelos-Alvarado, Michael Ripley, Joseph Ripley, Theo Bovee as well as staff members Mr. Post and Mrs. Furlow. Mr. Gottschalk also ran and said: “Everyone finished the race and personal records were set by many!”

Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 encompasses schools across Madison and St. Clair counties including Collinsville High School and several elementary schools according to Illinois Report Card. The district serves grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade with an enrollment of 6,169 students during the 2019-2020 school year according to Illinois Report Card.

Financially, Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 spent $16,872 per student in 2020 for a total expenditure of $104 million according to Illinois Report Card. The teaching staff consists of 418 teachers earning an average salary of $60,392 before pension contributions; women make up about four-fifths of this workforce while men account for one-fifth according to Illinois Report Card.

The district is made up demographically of approximately 56 percent White students; Black students comprise just over fourteen percent; Hispanic students are about a quarter; Asian students represent less than one percent according to Illinois Report Card. Chronic truancy rates within Collinsville CUSD #10 were reported at just over three percent during the last measured school year—significantly lower than statewide averages—which means fewer than two hundred enrolled students missed more than five percent of mandated days without valid excuse according to Illinois Report Card.
