House Assistant Republican Leader C.D. Davidsmeyer and House Republican Conference Chair Jeff Keicher outlined Illinois House Republicans’ budget priorities at a Capitol news conference on May 22, as the May 31 deadline for the spring legislative session approaches.

The announcement comes as lawmakers work to finalize the state’s budget before the end of the month, a process that impacts funding for public services and tax policy in Illinois.

Keicher, who was elected to represent Illinois’ 70th House District in 2018 after replacing Robert W. Pritchard, joined Davidsmeyer in discussing their fiscal goals according to Ballotpedia.

Both leaders focused on their party’s stance regarding tax increases and spending priorities. The press conference aimed to inform constituents about where House Republicans stand as negotiations continue in Springfield.

As lawmakers move toward the May 31 deadline, further updates are expected as both parties seek agreement on key budget items.
