State Representative Jeff Keicher and State Senator Dave Syverson will host an event with Kane County Supervisor of Assessments Mark Armstrong to assist residents in filing for homestead exemptions in Kane County, according to an announcement on April 28. The event is open for walk-ins and does not require an appointment.
The organizers said that all applicants must bring a driver’s license or state ID displaying their current address. Additional documentation is required depending on the type of exemption being sought. For senior citizen exemptions, attendees should provide identification showing both their current address and birthdate. Those applying for the senior freeze exemption need copies of their entire 2025 federal tax return for all household members.
Applicants seeking exemptions as persons with disabilities must submit proof of class 2 or 2A disability, such as a state ID card, Social Security benefits statement, or physician’s statement. Veterans with disabilities are required to present a Department of Veterans Affairs service disability letter indicating a combined rating of at least 30 percent. Returning veterans should provide either a DD214 form if discharged or travel orders if still active.
Keicher has served as the Illinois State Representative for the state’s 70th House District since his election in 2018, succeeding Robert W. Pritchard according to Ballotpedia.
