Eastern Illinois University women’s golf team began the Ohio Valley Conference Championship on April 19 with the opening round at Dalton Golf and Country Club in Dalton, Georgia. After the first day, Eastern Illinois stands in eighth place, just one stroke behind Tennessee State for seventh.
The tournament is significant as it marks the Panthers’ pursuit of a strong finish in their conference championship. Each golfer’s performance contributes to the team’s overall standing.
Addison Kenney and Meera Upadhyay led Eastern Illinois after both shot rounds of 86, tying them for 24th place individually. Sophia Miller followed closely with a score of 87, placing her tied for 28th. Mya Mirocha contributed a round of 92, tying for 39th position among competitors. Olivia Quigley rounded out EIU’s lineup on Sunday with a score of 98, putting her in 43rd place.
As a team, Eastern Illinois recorded a total score of 351 after day one. Little Rock leads the team standings following two players shooting rounds of 76 to share the individual lead.
Competition will continue Monday and Tuesday as teams complete additional rounds to determine final placements in the OVC Championship.
