Kentucky American Water announced on April 15 that it has finalized the acquisition of the Livingston Municipal Water Works system, following approval from the Kentucky Public Service Commission. The purchase will affect approximately 162 customer connections in Rockcastle County and marks a step in Kentucky American Water’s efforts to enhance water service across the state.
The transition is expected to improve water infrastructure and service reliability for residents of Livingston. Mayor Sandi Singleton said, “We are proud to officially transition Livingston Municipal Water Works to Kentucky American Water. We are confident that this decision will provide long-term benefits to our customers through enhanced sustainability, improved infrastructure and a continued commitment to high-quality service. Working with Kentucky American Water has felt like a true partnership, built on trust and shared goals, and I believe our customers will experience that same dedication and support.”
Kentucky American Water plans to invest more than $600,000 over five years in improvements for the local water system. The company will integrate Livingston’s operations into its existing Rockcastle County services. Rob Burton, president of Kentucky American Water, said, “Kentucky American Water is committed to delivering safe, clean, reliable and affordable water service to our new customers in Livingston, just as we do for over half a million people in the Commonwealth. We intend to strengthen Livingston’s water infrastructure to improve quality and reliability of service for customers and we look forward to being an active and impactful community partner.”
Customers can expect additional information by mail about their new services starting April 15. They will have access to online account management through MyWater as well as bill payment options and assistance programs such as H2O Help to Others.
The rates currently charged by the Livingston system will remain unchanged after the acquisition; any future changes must be reviewed by the Public Service Commission.
