Kiley to hold hearing on academic excellence in K-12 education tomorrow at 10:15

The Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, chaired by Representative Kevin Kiley of California, will hold a hearing on Apr. 28 titled “Leveling Down: How Equity Policies Undermine Excellence and Harm Students.” The event is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building.

The hearing aims to address how equity policies may impact academic excellence in K-12 education. This topic is significant as it relates to ongoing debates about the balance between promoting equal opportunities and maintaining high standards for students.

Witnesses expected at the hearing include Daniel Buck, Research Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute; Wai Wah Chin, Charter President of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance of Greater New York; Michaele N. Turnage Young, Senior Counsel and Co-Manager of the Equal Protection Initiative at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund; and Paul Runko, Senior Director of K-12 Initiatives at Defending Education.
