Kirkland & Ellis announced on May 7 that it advised Berkshire- and GTCR-backed Point Broadband in its merger with Clearwave Fiber. The transaction, which was announced on May 4, brings together the two companies to form one of the nation’s largest independent fiber operators.
The newly combined company will begin operations immediately. According to Kirkland & Ellis, the unified leadership team will focus on expanding fiber access across its service areas with committed growth capital.
The law firm said its team for this transaction included structured finance lawyers Kelly Mellecker, John Harrison, Amer Mohiuddin and Leo Robles-Rodriguez; corporate lawyers Ryan Harris, Kyle McHugh, Ziyad Ziyadzade, Zachary Prociuk, Taylor Petersen and Zack Stutler; debt finance lawyers Thomas Dobleman Jr. and Negin Fatahi; tax lawyers Polina Liberman and Natalie Packard; and investment funds lawyers Phil Vincent Giglio and Felix Jen.
