Kirkland & Ellis LLP and 38 of its lawyers are listed among the best in the United States and United Kingdom for both litigation and transactional work in the 2026 edition of Intellectual Asset Management’s IAM Patent 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Professionals, according to a June 1 announcement.

IAM conducted approximately 900 interviews with attorneys and in-house counsel to identify leading patent professionals across key jurisdictions. Editors from IAM said that Kirkland “fields a formidable patent practice spanning litigation and transactions, with a strong transatlantic platform that enables seamless coordination between its UK and U.S. offices,” and that the practice “combines trial firepower with deep technical and strategic expertise.”

The firm received top-tier rankings for several categories including U.S. – National (International Trade Commission, Litigation, Trade Secrets), UK: England and Wales (Litigation), as well as regional recognition for District of Columbia – Litigation, Illinois – Litigation, and New York – Litigation. Additional acknowledgments include UK: England and Wales – Transactions; California – Litigation; Illinois – Transactions; and New York – Transactions.

The IAM Patent 1000 is compiled through extensive research involving hundreds of interviews each year to highlight individuals who stand out for their exceptional skill sets in patent law.
