Koch Agronomic Services announced on Apr. 24 the launch of Centuro A-Pro, a new nitrogen stabilizer designed to reduce product handling and improve operational efficiency for both retailers and farmers.

The introduction of Centuro A-Pro is significant as it addresses the need for more efficient agricultural inputs by offering a concentrated formula that requires less volume while maintaining effectiveness. This development comes in response to customer feedback seeking improved efficiency during application seasons.

Cody Hornaday, technical agronomist with Koch Agronomic Services, said, “Koch is big on customer voice. We took feedback on Centuro, and basically concentrated the product down to a higher concentration of active ingredient. Therefore, we could then lower the use rate. We now have launched Centuro A-PRO.” He added that this change results in “a 67% reduction in the volume of product handled,” reducing the use rate from five gallons per ton to just 1.61 gallons per ton of anhydrous ammonia compared to the original formulation.

Hornaday explained further: “It is a concentrated formulation of the original Centuro, we are maintaining the same amount of active ingredient per ton of nitrogen. Therefore we get a lower use rate, and we get much more efficiency by handling less volume.” He noted that farmers will see faster turnaround times when filling tanks during tight application windows and retailers will benefit from reduced storage needs and better inventory management.

Early trials in corn showed up to an 18 bushel per acre increase versus untreated applications at an application rate of 180 pounds of nitrogen per acre. The company plans a full launch for fall 2026 applications.

Hornaday said about its strategic fit: “Nitrogen stabilizers are a tool to ensure that a grower is using all of that nitrogen that they are applying.” He continued: “We’re just looking at trying to be as efficient with the pounds that we’re putting on as we can. Losing any of the money that you put out on a crop that’s already at a tight margin is certainly not what anybody wants to do.”
