KSD 140 schools will observe a half-day schedule on May 1, according to an announcement released on April 27. The district said that all elementary and middle schools will dismiss students earlier than usual.

The change in dismissal times is important for families to plan transportation and after-school care. Elementary schools are scheduled to dismiss at 11:10 a.m., while middle schools will release students at noon. Early Childhood and Preschool programs have specific dismissal times: AM Early Childhood at 9:20 a.m., PM Early Childhood at 11:10 a.m., AM Preschool at 9:10 a.m., and PM Preschool at 10:40 a.m.

Christa McAuliffe Elementary School is among the institutions affected by this early dismissal. The school serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade per the official website. It operates from its campus located at 8944 W. 174th Street in Tinley Park, Illinois according to the official website.

The school provides resources such as full-time nursing services and maintains a media center overseen by a library information specialist according to the official website. Christa McAuliffe Elementary School also works with the community to create a safe environment that develops essential life skills and encourages learning as outlined on the official website.

Parents are reminded of these changes so they can make arrangements for student pick-up or supervision during this adjusted schedule.
