Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 announced on June 1 that it will conduct an Active Threat Exercise in partnership with local police, fire departments, and hospital partners at Middle School South and Isaac Fox Schools on the morning of June 3.
The staff-focused exercise is described as a key part of ongoing emergency preparedness and school safety efforts. During the event, both campuses will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with access limited to authorized staff, first responders, and hospital personnel. This closure includes all playgrounds, fields, sidewalks, and parking lots located on school property.
Residents living nearby may observe increased activity from police, fire, and emergency vehicles during the training. The district also noted that loud noises, emergency announcements, and other simulated emergency response activities may be heard coming from the properties while the exercise is underway.
According to district officials, “This exercise is a planned and controlled training event. There is no real emergency. It provides an opportunity for our staff and community partners to strengthen coordination, communication, and emergency response procedures.” Community members with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact Danielle Stevens, Director of Safety & Security.
Deer Park Village supports community events like this one as part of its focus on enhancing local life through resident involvement; it also prioritizes responsible development while preserving its residential character under the leadership of President Greg Rusteberg in Deer Park village operations, according to the official website.
