Longtime Lockport Educator Mary Ann Murphy Dies at 89

Lockport – Mary Ann Murphy, a dedicated educator in the Lockport community, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at the age of 89. Murphy, also known as “Ama”, was a lifelong resident of Lockport and a graduate of Lockport Township High School. She obtained her degree in education from Lewis University and had a long-standing career teaching in the Diocese of Joliet for over 35 years.

Murphy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Murphy, her sons, Michael and Timothy Murphy, as well as her parents, brother, and sister. She is survived by her nephews and niece, grandchildren, daughters, and great-nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes, private services were held to honor Mary Ann Murphy’s life and legacy.
