Junior Mackenzie Huber of the Illinois Wesleyan University women’s track and field team achieved a personal-best time in the 800-meter race at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 17, finishing 25th overall. Huber’s performance made her the top Division III finisher in a field that included competitors from Division I and II.

Huber completed the race in 2:10.49, improving her previous outdoor best by three seconds and surpassing her indoor personal record by nearly three-tenths of a second. This result moves her to second place all-time for Illinois Wesleyan in the outdoor 800 meters, trailing only Tara Clemens’ record set in 2013. Her new mark also places her within the top ten nationally for Division III this season, which positions her well for national championship qualification.

The Illinois Wesleyan Titans Women’s Track and Field program competes at the NCAA Division III level as part of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, according to the official website. The team is affiliated with Illinois Wesleyan University and its athletics programs according to university sources. Team members come from various regions throughout Illinois, reflecting broad community representation as noted on their official site.

Based in Bloomington, Illinois, the program hosts its home events at Shirk Center Indoor Track according to school information. Due to inclement weather, Illinois Wesleyan did not participate in another scheduled meet but plans to return to competition on April 18. Senior Evan Lowder will conclude Titan participation at Bryan Clay Invitational by competing in the men’s 400 meters.

This strong showing by Huber highlights both individual achievement and ongoing competitiveness within NCAA Division III athletics for Illinois Wesleyan. As athletes continue their season, performances like these contribute positively toward team goals and national rankings.
