Matchbox Twenty scheduled to perform at Illinois State Fair Grandstand in August

Generational pop rock band Matchbox Twenty is set to perform at the Illinois Lottery Grandstand Stage during the Illinois State Fair on Sunday, August 16, 2026. The announcement was made by state officials as part of efforts to bring diverse musical acts to Springfield.

Matchbox Twenty has achieved widespread recognition with songs such as “3AM,” “Push,” “Unwell,” “Bent,” “If You’re Gone,” and “She’s So Mean.” The group has sold over 40 million records worldwide, received multiple GRAMMY Award nominations, and performed in venues across the globe. Their catalog includes notable albums like Yourself or Someone Like You (1996), Mad Season (2000), More Than You Think You Are (2002), and North (2012). Their latest album, Where The Light Goes, marks their first release in more than a decade.

“Matchbox Twenty is one of the most recognizable names in pop rock, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the Illinois State Fair,” said Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Jerry Costello II. “It’s a great fit for the diverse music fans who come to the Illinois State Fair.”

The band consists of Rob Thomas, Brian Yale, Paul Doucette, and Kyle Cook. They continue to maintain popularity through both new releases and their established hits.

“Matchbox Twenty brings an incredible energy and a catalog of songs that instantly resonates with audiences,” said Illinois State Fair Manager Rebecca Clark. “This show will be a can’t-miss moment for fairgoers who grew up with their music and for a whole new generation discovering it.”

Tickets for the concert go on sale Friday, February 13 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. Prices range from $75 for Tier 3 seats up to $150 for Blue Ribbon seating. A pre-show party ticket upgrade is available for $30.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture oversees various programs supporting agricultural standards in the state. These include livestock welfare initiatives, food safety inspections, pesticide licensing, animal import permits, and market reporting services aimed at protecting consumers and producers while maintaining compliance within the industry (official website).
