Matthew “Matt” Gorga, age 71, of Mokena, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Gorga (Trella), daughter, Jennifer (Nick) Spano, grandchildren, Harper Spano, Jackson Spano, siblings, Frances Gorga, Pat Gorga, sisters-in-law, Patty (Garry) Kearnes, Laura Trella-Owak, numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Matthew J. & Theresa Gorga (Fierro), siblings, Ed Szudy, Cathy Richter, and brother-in-law Tony Trella.

Matt was a dedicated member of the Laborers’ Union Local 5 for 35 years. He had a passion for cars and cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Family and friends can pay their respects at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Orland Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
